About the Barbados Music Festival

Welcome to the Barbados Music Festival 2009. The concept behind the festival is to hear different genres of music in Barbados and to bring together locals and tourists alike to appreciate the talent of musicians from all over the world.

We also aim is to bring international artists together with Barbadian musicians to form lasting musical partnerships.

First and foremost we would not have an event without the bands so a huge thank you to all 34 musicians scheduled to play this year, some are new acts who haven’t performed in Barbados before so please make them feel at home, others have become firm favourites with the Barbadian public, so welcome back guys.

This is the third year for the event and again we have Virgin Atlantic to thank for flying in some of the UK’s leading musicians. Staging an event of this kind is only possible with the help and financial support of leading businesses in Barbados, so we would like to thank Intimate

Hotel Group for providing accommodation for all the musicians and Courtesy Car Rentals for providing the transport. Banks Beer are the media sponsor this year and they proudly present each night of the festival and every night the sound is sponsored by Mount Gay Rum, Absolut Vodka and Remy Martin.

The festival runs for 3 days, opening at Bert’s Bar on the south cast main road and the remaining two days will be the big weekend at Surfer’s Bay in Silver Sands.

This year’s event see bands performing rock, reggae, blues, and ska, and we hope that we have catered to all musical tastes in our selection of bands.
