Tamara has long been recognized as one of the top female vocalists and gifted performers in Barbados. She has aptly been dubbed “The Diva of diversity”. Whether Tamara lends her voice to Blues, Gospel, Jazz, Broadway, Reggae, Rock, Contemporary Opera or Calypso, she exudes an amazing mastery ofmusical styles and genres.
Tamara toured as lead vocalist with many local bands which led to world tours with reggae star Maxi Priest, inclusive of the Reggae Sunsplash and Spirit of Unity tours.
She has opened for Brian McKnight, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers and Air Supply and her vocals can be heard on Jerry Rafferty’s latest release. She is frequently booked by producers to add and /or arrange backing vocals for Barbadian greats including Arturo Tappin, Nicholas Branker, Gabby, R. P. B. and The Merrymen, to name a few.
Tamara headlined the Barbados and Ottawa Jazz Festivals, the ‘Barbados On The Water Festival’ at ‘The Harbourfront Centre’ Toronto, captured a major role in the annual Holders Season’s resurrection of the 17th century opera “Inkle and Yariko”, voiced approximately 500 jingles (local, regional & international) including Gold Award winners Hersheys – “Give me a KISS’, and the ‘Wrap It Up’ Aids campaign, and is recognized as the “anthem voice” for Banks Barbados Holdings (BHL) group of companies.
Tamara received a Cornerstone Award at the 2008 Barbados Music Awards for her contribution to music in Barbados.
